Mr. Carter is President and Chief Executive Officer of Superior Essex Inc. (Nasdaq: SPSX), a manufacturer and supplier of communications wire and cable products. Previously, Mr. Carter served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Cingular Wireless, a provider of wireless voice communications, since its formation in 2000. Prior to Cingular, he was President and CEO of SBC Wireless Inc., a provider of wireless communications, and held a number of senior level positions in SBC Wireless’ Long Distance and Data Communications lines of business. Mr. Carter's original involvement with SBC was as a Founding Partner and Managing Director of Southwestern Bell Telecom, ( UK) Ltd.

Mr. Carter is a Director of True Position, a leader in the field of wireless location-based technology, as well as a Director of the Atlanta Special Olympics and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Woodruff Arts Center. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and holds a Masters Degree from the City University Business School in London.
